..JoAnn/MAX: Max came from Guatemala. That is where he originated from because he is not really Mayan Aztec artifacts. He had been shown at the British Museum and they did tests on it in 1996 and it showed Mesopotamia marks on it so it’s very old. It gives off strange energy. I’ve had it for 32 years and shared it nationally and internationally with the world for 22 years and people say that Max calms them whenever it’s their time and they feel peace and solace deep within themselves and they bathe in this energy and they feel deep personal emotional experiences.

..So, I really think his purposes are many. He is here to inspire. He is here to encourage people’s spirit and give them insight to the many different things, especially about themselves. So I think he is a tool of focus, a tool to interact with and a tool of service.

..JoAnn/MAX: He is all of those. Max is a crystal carved into the shape of a crystal skull. He holds energy just like all crystals. He is a healer in many aspects, not only a physical level, but spiritual, mental and emotional. Crystal on a science level holds energy, big energy. We have an energy field of ourselves so when people sit in front of an energy crystal like Max… the crystal picks up on their individual energy and what happens is it also works on the electrical charge of the brain. They can hook you to up to an EEG and if you are sitting in front of these big pieces of crystal... they see more brain wave activity.

..So I believe when people sit before Max and they touch him that it amplifies the brain waves and they go into an (altered state) and they tap into what I call the subconscious/unconscious mind and it pulls things forth as far as (genetic memory), maybe where they have been in past lives and it certainly takes them into other stellar systems and to Atlantis.

..JoAnn/MAX: I know for sure he was done by hand and not by machine. He is not an ordinary crystal. He looks like he is made out of one piece and all crystals when they are carved out of crystal spheres is made out of one piece of crystal. He is actually created out of five overgrowths of layers of crystal. The crystal was deep, deep in the earth and it started growing and it overlaid and overlaid and became intertwining crystal which means it was very deep in the earth.

..It’s got a lot of microscopic bubbles of gases and water in it so its putting out energy, it’s the way its created that its putting out energy that is extremely different and it has a white cap on the head that is what they call a matrix. A matrix is what the crystal grows from in its infancy. That is the seed. Carvers will throw that away cuz its like the crest top of the geode and what they did, whomever they were, they reversed it and had to hand polish it out.

..One of your leading geologists is Dr. Robert Schock, a scientist at Boston University, a paleontologist, a geophysicist. He, along with John Anthony West, were the two men who re-dated the Sphinx. He examined it and he looked right down the front and you see the little irregularities where it was reworked by hand and he said: “Even as geologist… with the matrix being at the top of the head going through it acts like an (amplifier) to all these other pieces of crystal around it so it does not look like the stones been picked by accident".

..It looks like it’s been picked by (purpose and intent) the way it’s directing its energy and amplified by the matrix. It can’t be reproduced because it’s not what they call a "high impact” crystal.” Now... "low impact" crystal, which means it will not take the heat and evaporation of tools, saws, grinding wheels… that evaporation is going to go right through it and split it, so it sets it apart. It’s the only one in the world and it gives off... It gives off strange photographical images where he reproduces himself and fire is flying around the room. It’s the only crystal I have seen do this.

..JoAnn/MAX:Well actually when people come in, many people ask me that same question and I tell them to sit with Max with an open mind cuz he was given to me by a Tibetan trained Lama. They use it on the altars as a healing and spiritual tool. But… like I said, he will pick up on their energy. He will amplify that energy and he will come out with just (radiance) and if they put their head to it, it leaves a red mark right in the middle of the head. So, they should expect, and I believe, he is here to help each individual tap deep within their own selves and to help them (express themselves) in the manner and the way they need to and what they are needing in that time period in their life.

..JoAnn/MAX:: He is in the room next to me...

..JoAnn/MAX: I only know since I’ve doing this and been sharing Max nationally and internationally for 22 years and there is plenty of people out there that take these skulls out and go out there and pretty much dupe and con the people from here to Europe and I know most of them and they know me, I know them and they stay away. The legend is a legend saying that there is 13 authentic crystal skulls and one day they would be rediscovered. That is a legend. Listen to it as a legend and take it as a legend and I think each person should have a legend as to what that legend means. I have had contact with SHANARA, who belonged to the late Nick Nocerino. That is the only (two), Max and SHANARA are the only two that I know for sure that are authentic or unexplainable crystal skulls.

..JoAnn/MAX: No. He is priceless. You just can’t take something out like this out and insure it. As a tool for research and metaphysical value. Probably as an antiquity no one can place a monetary value on him so, no, he is not insured.

..JoAnn/MAX: I think Max will let me know (...Joe laughs). Its been 22 years and it will be a person that I’m satisfied and that he is satisfied with. He is out there and he is world known. I certainly don’t want to just put him back here on a shelf and no one ever see him again because he is too well known. I feel like he is my child and as people have their children and they grow up they go to school and college and they see how much bigger they can become. So I would be very proud that Max continues to stay out there and not be coveted.

..JoAnn/MAX:There’s a whole lot to my story and it could be a book. Norbu studied a very high early form of Tibetan Buddhism and his teachings were infused with Ancient Shamanistic practices and healing modalities that go back thousands of years. I met him in 1973 after his return from Central America, he came back to Texas, started a healing foundation based on the knowledge he had learned from the natives and interpreters, with the Crystal skull in hand the skull was placed upon an altar which I saw when my 12 year old daughter was diagnosed and dying of bone cancer and this was not part of my life, did not need a skull, did not need a crystal.

..I went into this completely clueless and had to learn but always had an open mind and a willingness to learn but I felt as if one did not have an open mind and a willingness to learn you lose the vision. So between these paths and all of these synchronicities and you know I ask questions, “What are synchronicities?” To me this is God’s secret way of arranging things. So... between this journey, this over 22 year journey Max got out of the closet, came out into the world and he’s been on the spiritual path for 22 years.

..JoAnn/MAX: Trying to explain Max is like trying to explain an emotion. It just is and its not particularly I don’t talk to him I’m just aware. I am aware of the things he may not want to do or do and I think he increases, and everyone has psychic abilities and I think that he helps to increase those in many ways. I know he brought me out of the deep dark pit, a five year long pit, for what a human could not do and I was able to express myself through this stone not knowing what it was and I could just pick up images and feeling off of it and I didn’t know what it was because it was not part of my life. If something is not part of your life you have nothing to compare it to.

..I didn’t know what was going on until I met Nick Nocerino who turned out to be the world’s most foremost expert on crystal skulls and had been looking for Max and knew about Max since 1949 and also owned the other ancient crystal skull SHANARA. He helped teach me, and through Max and my open mind I was able to start my path.

..JoAnn/MAX: Well they all seem to have profound…I get emails and letters all the time about profound experiences that they have had and how Max has changed their lives in many different ways. I know he had energy come off of him. I think there might be a picture somewhere on the internet where this man in Florida hurt his back and foot and he was meditating and a spinal cord came up off of Max and it showed the place where he had hurt his back and he superimposed on himself and his vertebrae on his disc and spinal cord and he healed his back.

..One man in Fresno, California, he was completely crushed at the hand, it had pins in it, they said it would have to be amputated. He was driving from Okland to Fresno and had his hand over Max for three hours and he says a few days later it started tingling and he went to the Dr. and the Dr. says: “I don’t know what it is, we just put these in there and they should be in another four months” and he says “but these pins are coming out and he said I have to take them out” and the hand was completely well.

It has Nick Nocerino starting out as a boy and he is the one that started all the crystal skull research way over 65 years ago.

..THE DOCUMENTARY OF MAX, THE CRYSTAL SKULL

..This all started out as a 2-3 month quest to get Max - The Crystal Skull in front of my cameras - both video and still. My original plan was just to do a "NEWS LIKE" interview with JoAnn and Max lasting about 6-8 minutes. This was going to, in my mind, be a "spot" for PARANORMAL QUESTS, and would be surrounded by other segments. Both Tara and Don Wagner - Lead Investigator for the Peace of Mind Paranormal Society and Producer of the first 2 shows felt I should take this project on myself and create our own show on Max.

..They both won, and I am glad they did...

..The dates were booked. Max and JoAnn were going to be at the PHOENIX FIRE SPIRITUAL CENTER in Irwin, Pennsylvania, July 31st through August 2nd. Reverend Nancy Welsh basically gave us free reign within her church, and was indispensable in this film's creation. The first day I, along with my Asst. Cameraman Matthew C. Davis, and Visions Editor Tara Ciampa were given COMPLETE FREEDOM AND ACCESS to videotape Max for just over an Hour before people started coming in for their {private meditation sessions}.

..Basic footage covered, Tara & I searched for people who would go -on camera- and tell us about their personal experience {with Max} that they just had. The 2nd day was needed for additional interviews, videotaping JoAnn's hour long closing event seminar covering her 30 plus year relationship and new life course with Max, and shooting stills.

..Remember, for many... this is a highly spiritual private experience - I knew going in on this project that these are the stories that would make or break the film. The feelings, emotions, etc. that are experienced after these {paid for} private sessions is what gives Max {supposedly} al lot of his {claimed} power. Max is a big, ancient crystal "sculpture", and these people were really shook up after being alone in a room with it and YES... Most stated they "felt something".

..The shoot went ridiculously smooth and without any complication. JoAnn was very personal and accommodating for our request of an on camera interview, and she was great. On Saturday night starting at 8:00pm, we stayed and shot the "closing ceremony" when all 80 +/- attendee's walked in procession to touch, to connect with, whatever... for a few brief moments to say goodbye and thank you to Max. All the footage shot, now it's my job to turn these tapes into a television show... let the games begin. This was my baby that I have to raise from conception to adulthood, as fast as possible.

..On the first day of editing, Tara and I agreed, based on what we had shot, the personal experience that she herself had experienced sitting with Max for a half hour, that we needed an outside professional opinion on what we have covered. Someone who has personally is familiar with the crystal skull legend and perhaps had experience personally with not only Max, but some of the other skulls out there. We took a chance and got lucky. Being as we had already interviewed DEMONOLOGIST JOHN ZAFFIS, he knew us and we knew him. He agreed to give us an -exclusive- account of what {He believes} these crystal skulls are, what they are capable of, and validated Tara's own personal experience with Max. We got him on the phone, Tara described her own private session with Max, John chimed in at great legnth and basically validated Tara's personal experience with the crystal. THEIR STORIES MATCHED.

..Then the documentary took an unexpected, and surprisingly astonishing turn in direction. While reviewing the stills that I had shot during our two days with the skull, trying to visually illustrate what Zaffis was describing, Tara came up behind me to see what I had shot. "Click on THAT ONE..." she said to me, and as the good Assistant Editor that I am, I did just as she had requested... "Doesn't look like mush, bad shot" I thought to myself, but then as we both are looking at this shot, Tara - with a big smile on her face said: "Your kidding...You know what that is? You got an ENERGY SHOT!" Looking at the shot in Photoshop, altering the contrast and sharpness, I pushed back my chair away from the computer monitor in absolute amazement as to what we had captured... photographic evidence of the claimed power and energy that followers and believers of this crystal have stated to exist - and we took the shot ourselves.

..Jackpot is not even the word... -validation- and -proof- are the only words that I personally would use to describe this claimed phenomenon was in our own hands. This is that one in a million shot that paranormal investigators wish and would kill for.. and we had found it by accident. I had been editing for 22 days and never knew that this shot was in my computer the whole time. The shot "revealed itself" just in the point in time during my telling of this story when I needed it the most. We had peoples {experiences and beliefs} documented. We had Tara's own {experiences and accounts} with the crystal validated by John Zaffis. Now I had {evidence} that these people are actually seeing and feeling {something} when with the skull.
